The Digital Screen Network

Created by the Arts Council England and the UK Film Council, the Digital Screen Network was created so that independent films, documentaries, foreign language films, and restored classics have a chance of getting into the cinema when competing against bigger and richer mainstream film companies, and to also give the UK audience a more diverse and varied range of films to see in cinemas.

The Digital Screen Network does this by equipping cinemas all over the UK with digital projection technology, making it cheaper (as opposed to making traditional reels of film) for smaller film companies to make copies of their films, meaning they are more likely to get their films into the cinema.
